What the roof is telling us

Repair it if we can. Replace it when the wear is bigger than one spot.

Most calls start with a leak, a storm, or a roof that's simply getting old. We look at the whole system before recommending work: shingles, valleys, pipe boots, flashing, ventilation, and the roof edges where water often finds trouble.

If replacement is the right call, the shingles are only part of the job. We also account for damaged decking, drip edge, synthetic underlayment, ice and water protection, ridge caps, flashing, and ventilation. The final scope depends on your home, the roof design, manufacturer instructions, and applicable code.

Repair the problem area

Replace isolated shingles, a failed pipe boot, ridge caps, or flashing when the rest of the roof still has useful life.

Replace the shingle roof

Remove materials as required, inspect the deck, and install a complete architectural shingle system.

Fix the layer underneath

Replace damaged decking found during tear-off, then install the required underlayment, ice and water protection, and drip edge.

Correct the ventilation

Check intake and exhaust together so the new roof isn't installed over an old airflow problem.

What to know before repairing or replacing a roof

Does an older roof always need to be replaced?

No. Age matters, but so do leak history, installation, storm exposure, and the condition of the roof today. Some older roofs need a focused repair. Others are too worn to keep patching. The inspection should make that distinction clear.

What if you find bad decking during tear-off?

Decking can't be fully checked while shingles cover it. If we uncover damaged or unsuitable sections, we'll document them and review the added work before replacing them under the approved scope and applicable requirements.

Will a repair shingle match my roof?

Maybe. Availability, profile, color, and years of sun exposure all affect the match. We'll show you what's available and won't pretend a new shingle will disappear into an older roof.

What warranty comes with the roof?

The written proposal should separate any manufacturer material coverage from TopDownPR's workmanship terms. Exact products, registration requirements, exclusions, and workmanship coverage must be confirmed in the signed agreement before work starts.
